MO Broker- my Creative Side

• 2009-Sep-29 - Pickin and a Grinning-

I have my 25 large blocks (10 1/2") sewn and several sewn into rows.
Question IS-- Do I set them 5 x 5 and add a black border and some applique OR.....

Set them on point with black setting triangles and do a little applique?

Either way I am leaning towards a black border of some kind. I can see me doing a vine with flowers or butterflies (or both!)

Normally, I like on point better. But in this case, I vote for the 5x5 setting. The HST's form an interesting secondary pattern in this setting. Karen

I have to go with Karen on this one. Square also makes the blocks stick out more. Rhoda

I vote for the straight setting because then the movement is diagonal which I like better (although that seems a bit counter-intuitive). Besides, I love your piecing/applique combos. There is so much to look at.

It is going to be quicker to stay with the original layout (it is already sewn in strips) Last night I realized I have another 'bag' of similar sqs so I may do a border of some sort in scrappy.
Sorry for posting so many one after another but I just figured out how to copy from blogger. I was a little gun shy about losing the data again but think I am over it. - cw

Love the bright colors in this quilt! I second quiltlover--go with the straight set and let the pattern create the diagonal movement. I like the idea of the black border with vines and butterflies. I think a scrappy border would be too much--this quilt needs a solid border to rein it in.
