• 2009-Oct-10 - Good-bye, NO-BUY (at least for today!)

Today on the way home from Apple Butter Making Days in Mt Vernon, MO, we stopped at the Main & Market Flea Market to see what they had that needed to go home with us.

I have had my eye on this beauty for awhile and keep talking myself out of purchasing it b/c I am supposed to be on a self-imposed NO-BUY. Any way so much for me ignoring a great price reduction.

I was having a hard time not controlling myself at the original price of $55. When it got lowered to only $20 this baby had to go home with me.

It is in the wash right now but will be on the foot of our bed for a little keep the legs warm tonight. I just love the weight of a good double knit quilt.

What a great quilt at a great price! No wonder it had to come home with you. I often layer an extra quilt at the bottom of the bed too.

They were very popular in the 50's and 60's b/c they wear so well. I use to make puppets from 'ladies pants' that I bought at the thrift store 25 yrs ago (didn't even know I was going 'green'!)

B/c the double knit is so thick, it is usually 'tied' instead of hand quilted. It is also harder on the sewing machine to try quilt one b/c it has a mind of its own and stretches a bit.

I love the weight and texture!
